R.L. “Burr” Buckalew joined Riverway Title Company in 2018 as Executive Vice-President and Senior Commercial Escrow Officer.  Burr brings with him over 44 years of experience in the title industry, the majority of which was spent in Houston.  Mr Buckalew’s focus has always been on providing the best service to his clients, as he explained, “My desire to continue to provide the best service and greatest expertise in the field led me to my decision to join Riverway Title.”

Burr earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in 1972.  After graduation, he began his career in the title industry working for Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation in Dallas.  In 1976, Mr. Buckalew moved to Houston and joined an independent title agent, Lawyers Title Company of Houston.  With his focus on the commercial real estate market, he soon became a leading commercial closer in Houston, as well as a highly respected closer in the industry.

Burr led a group of investors to purchase Lawyers Title Company of Houston in 1998, and later became the sole owner of the company.  In 2004, the company changed its name to AmeriPoint Title Houston, and later merged with StarTex Title in 2011.
